01-12-07 : Multi-agency effort leads to drug discovery

By Aaron Burgin, The Porterville Recorder
LINDSAY - A multi-agency effort led the arrest of two people Thursday in connection with a large crystal methamphetamine discovery.

Detectives from the Lindsay, Farmersville, Exeter and Porterville police departments, and the Sheriff's Narcotic Task Force arrested John Parkerson after detectives discovered $700 worth of meth in a house on 1483 E. Waddell St.

In addition to the 14.9 grams of meth, high-capacity assualt rifles and other guns were located during the search, Lindsay Sgt. Jerry Martinez said.

Parkerson is being held at Tulare County Main Jail, charged with felony possession and maintaining a residence for the promotion of a controlled substance. Detectives arrested a woman in the house at the time of the bust. Ashley Woods, 23, was arrested for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and was released on a signed promised to appear.

“This was a two-month investigation,” Martinez said. “We are still looking into it.” More arrests are anticipated in the case, Martinez said.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call any of the aforementioned agencies. Martinez can be reached at 562-2511.
