A Poplar man was in the hospital Friday after being shot in his home multiple times by an unknown assailant late Thursday night.

Tulare County Sheriff’s Department deputies are investigating what they believe is the attempted murder of Ariel Baltazar, who reportedly told deputies that someone walked into his home, in the 19000 block of Avenue 151, about 10:50 p.m. and opened fire.

Baltazar was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for his injury. He was listed Friday in guarded condition.
