VISALIA — Tulare County and City of Visalia officials announced today they will co-sponsor a gang summit later this year.
The summit will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Visalia Convention Center, 303 E. Acequia Ave., Visalia.
Eric Coyne, Tulare County’s media spokesman, said in a news release that the summit will help Tulare County non-profit organizations, community-based organizations, the general public and local government and law enforcement officials to raise awareness and develop strategies for suppressing, preventing, and intervening in gang activities.
The cities of San Jose and Fresno, who have both been successful with their gang prevention efforts, have been invited to share details of their programs, Coyne said. Several other government, law enforcement and community-based organizations have also been invited to showcase their efforts.
The Tulare County Gang Prevention Task Force is a group composed of non-profit organizations, community-based organizations, the general public, and local government and law enforcement. Its mission is to help combat gang activities in Tulare County.
