      BUTTONS :
With the latest craze in buttons, gangs have emblems, logos, slogans, etc. imprinted on them.

      CLOTHING :

Also, they put earrings in the nose. Left or Right depending on the gang

      COMBS :
The gang member has a comb “stuck” in his beard, or hair (front or back). It will be “stuck” on the side he represents to (left or right). This originally started in the jail/prison system but has been seen on the streets.

      FINGERNAILS :
Gang members have been coloring two (2) nails with their gang colors. Nails colored should be on the hand they represent to (right side/ left side)

      FRIENDSHIP BEADS :
Gangs have “taken over” this fad by having their gang’s colors on the beads. These are worn on clothing, shoes, hair, and even as earrings.

      GRAFFITI :
If any graffiti is written upside-down, it shows disrespect to that gang and was written by an opposing gang.

      GYM SHOES :
Gang affiliation can be shown in many ways. The following are just some of the examples:
A. Two color of shoes vs. the color of the laces.
B. Two (2) sets of laces in the show representing the gang’s colors.
C: Two (2) colored laces in either the right shoe or the left shoe showing gang affiliation.
D. One (1) lace of the primary color in one shoe.
E. Vice Lords, Bloods, and other People Nation affiliates have been known to wear Converse gym shoes because of the five pointed star on the side.
F. The Disciples and the other Folk Nation affiliates, Crips especially, have been known to wear British Knight because they say the “BK” means “Blood Killer”.
G. Tongues of shoes:

      HAIR :
Gang members are doing different things with an/or putting different things in their hair to show their gang affiliation. Examples:
A. Cutting a design(s) in their hair (pitchforks, arrows, etc.)
B. Beading their hair with beads of the gang’s colors.
C. Hair streaking: The Vice Lords, Bloods, and other People Nation affiliates have been putting a gold or red streak on the left side of their head.
D. Rubber Bands: Wrapping a “pony tail” with rubber bands of the gang’s colors.
E. Barrette: Securing a “pony tail” or just in the hair with a barrette of the gang’s colors.

Tilted to the Left-- Vice Lords, Bloods, and other Peoples Nation Affiliates.
(NOTE:Some kinds of hats they wear are L.A. Raiders, L.A. Kings, Chicago Bulls, and New York Yankees.)

      JELLY BRACELETS :
A colored rubber/plastic loop that is worn around the wrist. May be worn in multiples representing the gang’s colors. Sometimes a second bracelet can be attached and worn around a finger and wrist together (like a Slave Bracelet). (NOTE: Caution is to be used again because this is also a popular fad with non-gang type individuals.)

      JEWELRY :
Gangs have worn their gang symbols made into jewelry (6 or 5 pointed stars, rabbit heads, etc.) and worn as a necklace, key ring, earring, etc. One of the latest pieces of jewelry is the wearing of the Italian Horn by the Disciples. The Horn is supposed to represent the devil’s horn, which is a part of their logo.

      NEW WAVE STAR :
Sheets worn under hats that hang from the back. It sometimes has gang colors, symbols, etc. on it. The gang started doing this in the prison system using sheets, T-shirts, etc. (NOTE: Use caution when thinking that a person wearing this is a gang member, unless gang markings are obvious.)
      RIGHT/LEFT RULE :
The same Right and Left rule applies to other things like: belts buckles, bandannas hanging from a pocket, tied around a leg, hanging from a belt loop, etc.
