† OPINION : 06-10-07 [ -- THE NUMB3RS ARN'T THERE -- ]
This Sunday morning as I was justifing why I should to go to Church, I felt a stonger pull to speak to the body of Christ instead. I hope that what I have to say is more than pure entertainment. And, if it causes you to think ... well that's ok - just so long as you put a little action to your reaction.
The numbers arn't there anymore, stated a well know T.V. evangelist. And I know that as well. What numbers ??? The number of Christians who are ready to share their faith. The number of Christians who are willing to bring someone to Church. The number of Christians who will become Ministers. And the number of Christians who will take the time and listen to what GOD wants ...
Another well know T.V. evangelist {Dwight Thompson} shared on TBN - to Kirt Carmoron - {Way of the Master} that he understood only 10% of today's Christians are willing to share their faith. Kirt corrected him with stats from Dr. Bill Bright {Campus Crusade for Christ} that only 2% actually share their faith. Now my hope is ... that was then, and this is now. But I have yet to see any number "IN AMERICA" that's approaching even 10%.
What does that mean ? It means we're not prepared. It means we have become just like the foolish "virgins" who traveled to meet the bridegroom - with no additional provisions. Basically half of these didn't-do-nothing believers knew were to go and what time but didn't have the enough provisions for the entire journey and were left behind and were left out. They thought it was ok to just show up on Sundays and the Pastor or Church body would take care of them. So they did not ask GOD ... because they didn't think the road they'd need to travel would be sooooooooooo long.
So ... lets go over these numbers one more time.
Basically 10% share their faith. And half of those are not prepared for the journey. Why ? They arn't faithful with the little things that GOD asked them to do. {I speak from experience}. Number two, they're not willing to die to the flesh. And lastly, they really don't believe that GOD can use them.
But wait you say !!! Those numbers just don't appear right. Look at all those Christian T.V. programs and the large number of folks going to those Benny Hinn type rally's. What about that ? Listen ... whistle-britches, you're looking at the crowds. Look who's on stage - One preacher and maybe a hand-full of ministers, a choir and a band {The 2%ers}.
What I'm talking about is when the "Lets get em saved Convention" is over and you and I have to start bring these new converts to Church - very few, if any step up. They believe if the Church that they attend - has a Church bus - the person who runs that ministry is the one responsible to do the picking up. Not you ... You already did your thing. And you already put in your time on that bus and with those ... people. You know who you are and you know what I'm talking about.
And GOD help you if some little gang-banger from the streets slips into your Church looking for answers. For sure you'd think that someone in your Church is responsible to minister to this gang member - cause you know you ain't qualifed ... not even close. And that percentage of those who are willing to share their faith dropped one more time.
Trust me when I tell you this folks. All this time you've built up one of the biggest Churches on the block and in your town ... hoping that this will draw more people into this "Inner-Sanctum" to be saved and you're not even prepared.
The streets are ripe but the harvesters are few. Who will be justified before the LORD on that day ? Who will even see the Bride Groom ? GOD is angry folks ... too many of these young kids are on their way to hell, and GOD needs you to love them, and tell them about JESUS CHRIST.
So let's not be afraid and let's not be warry in well doing. Will you be numbered among those who said, LORD send me ... I am willing or will you continue to do nothing.
